That’s a wrap on the 2016 Special Olympics D.C. Polar Plunge season! On behalf of the Special Olympics D.C. Board, Volunteers, Unified Partners and most importantly, the Athletes, THANK YOU!

Over 400 supporters, business leaders, law enforcement, school administrators, school staff and students, pro sports staff, volunteers, parents, and Special Olympics athletes…all who took the plunge at one of our four Polar Plunges and helped raise over $145,000 for the athletes ofSpecial Olympics D.C.!

Your support ensures that the nearly 1,600 athletes who participate in programming continue to have the ability to grow and achieve more through the power of sports. But as you all know, Special Olympics is way more than just sports.  It’s a movement that is breaking down barriers for individuals with intellectual disabilities, ending bullying, and creating more inclusive schools and communities through Unified Sports!

Huge thank you to our many volunteers including AmeriCorps FEMA, Metropolitan Police Department, D.C. Fire and EMS, Special Olympics, SODC Unified Partners, and Catholic University SAAC.

Also, huge thank you to our D.C. Polar Plunge partners: the Independent Order of Odd Fellows D.C., Catholic University of America, Downtown D.C., Events D.C., and the Law Enforcement Torch Run for SpecialOlympics D.C.
